Introduction
Oxcarbazepine (oxc) is a ketone analog of carbamazepine. Unlike carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine has no side effects. It is an anti-epileptic drug with anti-neuralgia properties. It has pharmacokinetic advantages over carbamazepine. It is used to treat neuropathic pain and as an effective analgesic for trigeminal neuralgia. The catabolism of OXC to its monohydroxy derivatives has significant pharmacological properties. It regulates potassium channels and voltage-dependent sodium channels. oxc regulates the v2 receptor-g protein complex in the collecting duct.
